It’s finally summer! And in New York at least, it seems like it’s going to be a hot one.
Here’s a twist on a popular Mexican drink that’s a refreshing alternative to the Margarita — the Paloma. In Mexico, this drink is usually made with just a local brand of grapefruit soda and tequila. It’s good (and if you’re going to go this route I would recommend the San Pellegrino brand from Italy), but I think using fresh fruit juices takes this everyday pleasure to a new level.
Here’s a short video. Recipe below.
Recipe
4 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 ounces fresh lime juice
1/2 oz agave nectar
pinch of salt
About 2 ounces of tequila
splash of soda water
Grapefruit or lime slices (to garnish)
Pour the first five ingredients into a pitcher or mixing glass full of ice and stir well. Strain into a glass full of ice and top with a splash of soda. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit or lime.
